Total care for women with high risk pregnancies
Because high risk patients require very close monitoring during their pregnancies, we perform advanced fetal monitoring and diagnostic testing throughout the pregnancy until delivery. In addition to a complete spectrum of high risk obstetrical services, we also provide preconception consultation and genetic counseling for women considering pregnancy.
A team approach: the reason for our success
Hurley’s Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine is so successful at treating high risk patients because of our exceptional team of specialists who are particularly skilled in handling the challenges of a high risk pregnancy. This team approach to your obstetrical care means that your care is more complete, the quality of care is much higher, and fewer medical errors occur.
Our maternal fetal medicine team consists of a Hurley perinatologist (an obstetrician who specializes in maternal fetal medicine), a genetic counselor, five sonographers (ultrasound technicians) who specialize in obstetrics and high-risk pregnancy, and two extremely specialized, highly qualified obstetric nurses trained specifically in the care of high risk obstetric patients.
Exceptional diabetes management during your pregnancy
If a pregnant patient show signs of diabetes or pre-diabetes, she is referred to one of our three registered diabetic nurse educators who are specifically dedicated to helping women manage their diabetes while pregnant. Our nurse educators will then put these patients in contact with Hurley’s Diabetes During Pregnancy education classes which are the best in the area. Pregnant diabetic patients are also referred to our registered obstetrical dietician who will provide them with nutrition care specific to a diabetic pregnancy.
