Diabetes at Hurley

Hurley is leading the fight against diabetes with highly-recognized diabetes education programs for adults, children and pregnant women.

Hurley Diabetes Center

With many classes and appointments at many different times, we teach adults how to manage their diabetes themselves so they can be healthier.

Diabetes is a serious disease, especially in Genesee County. It can cause a heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, or loss of your feet or legs. At the Hurley Diabetes Center, we can help you learn how to control your diabetes so you can live a healthy life. In a separate location from Hurley Medical Center, the Hurley Diabetes Center is conveniently located on Robert T. Longway Boulevard with easy parking.

We teach you:

  • What diabetes is
  • What puts you at risk for getting diabetes
  • Blood sugar monitoring
  • Diabetes medicines, including insulin pump
  • How to stay healthy with diabetes
  • What to eat

Help with a doctor or insurance

Your doctor needs to order diabetes education. If you don’t have a doctor, we can help you find one. Many insurance companies will cover diabetes education. If you do not have insurance, or if your insurance will not cover diabetes education, Hurley Medical Center will help you get the care and education you need.
