Our Breast Health Nurse Navigator, the first one in Genesee County, compassionately guides patients through the complicated and stressful world of breast cancer treatment.

Breast Health Nurse Navigator

The first Breast Health Nurse Navigator in Genesee County

Hurley Medical Center is committed to making sure women have the information, resources, and support they need to make their breast cancer treatment experience as positive and successful as possible. To help our patients navigate the complicated and stressful world of breast cancer, we provide a Breast Health Nurse Navigator. Hurley was actually the first medical center in Genesee County to offer a Breast Health Nurse Navigator. From diagnosis to treatment to breast reconstruction to long-term follow-up, this caring, highly-trained registered nurse supports patients going through breast cancer treatment.

Breast Cancer Support Group: Pink Perfection

The ‘Pink Perfection’ Breast Cancer Support Group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 3-4:30pm at Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute, 302 Kensington Avenue in Flint.

With a certified social worker, Hurley’s Breast Health Nurse Navigator co-facilitates the ‘Pink Perfection’ Breast Cancer Support Group. These bi-monthly meetings give current and former breast cancer patients the chance to share with and learn from others. All aspects of breast cancer from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship are discussed.

Patient- and Family-Centered Care

Patient- and Family-Centered Care, a new way of delivering healthcare which involves the patient and the family in medical decisions, is at the heart of Hurley Medical Center’s approach to breast health and cancer treatment. Our Breast Health Nurse Navigator encourages patients to bring their family members and friends to the initial meeting where she explains everything involved in a diagnosis of breast cancer, including breast reconstruction. Including patients and their families in the decision-making process empowers them to make choices about treatment, and just as importantly, produces better results and increased patient safety.
