Transforming Our Community's Health

Through our many successful community programs and events, we help the people in our community live healthier lives.

Health Fairs

Committed to our community

As the safety-net provider for the Flint-Genesee County area, Hurley Medical Center is vitally important to the people of our community. Not only do we treat every person who walks through our doors regardless of ability to pay, we take health education to our community members where they live.

Our goal: to transform the health of everyone in our region

We routinely go outside our walls and into our surrounding neighborhoods, participating in health fairs and expos, such as the recent Men's Health Summit in February, 2012. Our doctors and nurses visit schools, places of worship, community groups, libraries, professional organizations, and assisted-living facilities. They talk to people about their health, but just as importantly, they conduct much-needed screenings which can identify potential problems or conditions.

Leading the fight against chronic disease

We tackle obesity, diabetes, breast cancer, asthma and chronic disease management head-on with family weight loss programs, nutrition counseling, diabetes education programs, mammogram screenings and home-based asthma disease management programs. And we don’t stop there. We continually look for new ways to reach the people in our community so that they can live longer, healthier lives.

At Hurley, our genuine commitment to a healthy community is how we live out our mission of “Clinical Excellence. Service to People.”
