FLINT, MICHIGAN— In October of 2012, Hurley Children's Hospital received verification as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) --  the only medical center to receive this verification in the region comprised of Genesee, Lapeer and Shiawassee counties.

According to Brian Nolan, MD, Director of Clinical Pediatrics and a Pediatric Intensive Care Physician at Hurley Children's Hospital, the achievement "means we are able to treat the most serious injuries, with the highest standards of technology and treatment, continuing the outstanding comprehensive care for our youngest patients and their families."
