May 31- Darlene Walker's story about her 102-year-old mom is this week's winning "Showcase Story" in Hurley's "Mom's the Word" Contest!

In Darlene's own words:

"I know I have that 'SPECIAL' someone, my Mother. She has given so much of herself to our family and LOVES us all unconditionally.  Mother has been a hard worker, a good homemaker, a good wife, a good Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. 

"Mother likes to call me and sing to me, and says that it's what makes her feel good and she knows it will brighten my day. You know what? It does make my day much better!

"She still lives on her own and is proud of that fact. Mother had her very first major surgery at 102 years old and on May 5th, 2012 she turned 103. Mother remembers many things very well, likes to go out and eat steak, go for rides through the country, attend family reunions and play Pinochole, too. God Bless you Mother and Thank You for All that YOU have done for your family!"
