Men’s Health Champions

Men’s Health Champions are Hurley Medical Center doctors who are committed to helping men take charge of their health. They recognize that most men do not have a personal doctor and have limited contact with the health care system as a whole. And they see the toll this takes on men’s health, as men die from preventable diseases at a much higher rate than women.

Committed to helping men get and stay healthy

Our Men’s Health Champions are especially skilled in addressing the unique needs of each patient. With check-ups, screenings, seminars, educational programs, and special events, your Health Champion will be your coach and support person in your journey to get healthy, stay healthy, and live a healthier life.

Dr. Weber's plans for transforming men's health in Genesee County

“We know that Genesee County is one of the least healthy counties in Michigan, and Flint is one of the least healthy cities in the U.S. It is our job as physicians to address the serious health conditions and health disparities that men face in our city and the region.

"Men typically don’t get check-ups, don’t practice preventive healthcare, and tend to ignore symptoms when they’re sick or something hurts because they don’t like to go to the doctor. I want to change that. For Hurley Medical Center to transform the health of men in our community, men have to be comfortable discussing their health with doctors. Physicians need to encourage them to take ownership of their health and make it a top priority. And most importantly, we need to teach them that it’s not ‘unmanly’ to see a doctor, to change their lifestyles to improve their health, and to take steps to ultimately live healthier lives.”   - Dr. Weber
