Hurley Medical Center
“If I hadn’t driven myself in that day, I’d be dead,” recalls Hurley Cardiac Patient Larry Kelly, who drove himself to Hurley’s Emergency Department and Level I Trauma Center after suffering what he now knows was a heart attack. On Wednesday, April 4, 2007, the Burton man was working at a Flint construction site when he felt a strain in his chest that turned into pain, a cold sweat, and a burning sensation from head to toe. Upon arrival in the ER, Hurley’s trauma center staff immediately began treating the 57-year old father of three. Kelly had not only suffered a heart attack but also had 100 percent blockage in an artery. He coded twice while on the table undergoing the procedure to implant a stent into his artery. “Hurley saved my life,” says Kelly. “The outstanding medical staff and their compassion is only exceeded by their clinical excellence. I know I beat the odds. I have a second chance at life, and it’s all because of Hurley.” HEART HEALTH ASSESSMENT, TIPS AND MORE TESTIMONIALS AT: www.hurleymc.com/heart
