The Rehabilitation Services Department at Hurley Medical Center provides high-quality patient care that includes physical medicine management and one-on-one physical, occupational, and speech and language therapy to patients from across Northeastern Michigan. Our team of experienced physicians, therapists and nurses works collaboratively with pediatric patients and their families to help individuals recover—in body, mind and spirit—from acute illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions.

Our Highly-Specialized Rehabilitation Services team

The Rehabilitation Services team comprises board-certified physicians, nurses and therapists with extensive experience and training in physical, occupational, and speech and language therapy. Our staff is highly tenured, with most of our team having worked at Hurley Rehabilitation Services Department for more than a decade, and some for more than 20 years. For patients with multiple or overlapping conditions, or for patients whose needs change over time, this means seamless transitions and close cooperation between therapists with expertise in various areas. We also work closely with physicians and staff from other service areas at Hurley Medical Center, including the pediatrics, neurology, and behavioral medicine departments, among others.

Hurley's Rehabilitation Services Department provides care for patients of all ages, in an accepting and affirming atmosphere that recognizes the uniqueness of each individual. Service, compassion and hope are the basis of our treatment approach. At Hurley Medical Center, we are also committed to educating our patients and their families, and empowering them to play an active role in their own medical treatment. We call this focus on a patient's opinions and preferences Patient- and Family-Centered Care and it represents an entirely new way of delivering health care.

While we provide the highest level of physical rehabilitation, we also ensure that an individual regains the self-esteem and emotional wellbeing necessary to achieving a successful return to the community. Our outpatient Children’s Rehabilitation program enables us to provide specialized treatment for our younger patients in a child-friendly environment, separate from adult populations.
