Wholesome, nourishing, and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Hurley makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor's orders or diet prescription.

Patients are served breakfast between 7:15 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., lunch between 11:15 a.m. and 1:00p.m., and dinner between 4:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. These are approximate times and may vary depending on the area of the hospital where you are located. Occasionally your meal may be delayed or your diet may be changed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test has been completed.

Your breakfast tray will include a menu form, which you can use to order your meal selections for the next day.

Please make your menu selections as soon as possible, so it will be ready for pickup. If you need assistance making your choices, a member of the Dietary Department will be happy to help you. Ask your nurse to call or you may call 257-9346 for assistance. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, you will receive menus tailored to your specific needs.

If a family member or friend wants to eat in your room with you, the person may go to the cafeteria, buy a meal there and take it back to your room. If the person does not want to go to the cafeteria, a guest meal tray can be delivered to your room for a cost of $5.00 or food may be purchased from the unit food delivery service during the regular rounds. Please ask a nurse on the unit for approximate times for food delivery on your unit.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria at Hurley is open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. until 4:00 a.m. While it is primarily designed to serve hospital employees, visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria at any time it is open. Patients who have permission to eat in the cafeteria must have authorization from the unit charge nurse in order to purchase food from the cafeteria.

• 3:30 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.
• 1:00 a.m. - 4:00 a.m.

Vending Machines
Vending machines for snacks and beverages are located in the cafeteria, Emergency Department waiting areas, near the north elevators, and across from the special elevators on 2E, 4E, and 9E. They are available 24 hours a day. Vending machine products are provided and serviced by the company listed on the machine. The company can be contacted directly for refunds.
